As we left Ithaca and headed north on Cayuga Lake, we enjoyed the very calm lake and plotted our way to Long Point View Winery. We stopped at Long Point State Park and called the winery, per email instructions from the owner of the winery. They promptly arrived to transport us to the winery where we enjoyed a delicious tasking of reds and whites. After choosing a few bottles to purchase, they brought us back to the boat and we were on our way back into the Erie Canal heading west.

We had decided to stop in Newark, a small town that we'd passed on our route to the Finger Lakes. Other boaters told us that Newark was a good place to stay the night. We decided to stay two nights for several reasons. First docking on the canal wall was free, as was laundry. We also planned to wash the boat for the first time in several days.

When we arrived, we were greeted by Keith, a boater that we'd met in Fairport. He was aboard a Blue Jacket boat, like Henry and Diane on Dee Dee who we'd met on the Loop. He joined us for dinner that night.

While in Newark, we walked to the Farmer's Market, the library where they housed a clock museum, and to a minor league baseball game. We also had Looper friends from Fairport come and pick us up and take us to lunch at a restaurant called Warfield's in Clifton Springs, NY. It was lovely to reconnect with them and remember good times on the rivers where we met them on our way home.
