We left early in the morning, just as the sun was beginning to rise. The full moon was still hanging high in the sky. Barges were already on their way to deliver their bounty. We set out with Blondie and Prime Interest for a long day of travel with no locks to contend with. Our hope would be to travel 100+ miles to an anchorage near the Ohio River with hopes of getting into Paducah on Tuesday. We traveled all day down the Mississippi River, passing sandy shores due to the low water levels. Water levels on the Mississippi have been so low that barges have been getting stock on the muddy bottom.

When we arrived at Angelo Towhead, we rafted with Bill and Sue on Blondie. The current was swift so Bill set a bow and stern anchor. Bill and Sue invited us aboard to tour their boat, and we shared dinner with them.
