We scooted along the Alligator River early in the morning and poked the bow out onto the Albemarle Sound. We'd anticipated a rough ride, but found the sound calm. We passed by the Fort Raleigh and tooted the horn at Pat and Donna Dickriede who were waving on the shore as we passed their home. They met us on the fuel dock and then Donna hopped aboard for a ride up the channel and into our marina slip. Pat was there to catch our lines. After resting a while and putting the boat to sleep in the slip, we met back up with the crew of Sojourn and Betty Gail at the local brewery. Pat and Donna joined us for a drink before sweeping us away to a waterfront restaurant for dinner. It was great to be together and catch up and share our story and hear theirs. Before heading back to the boat, Pat and Donna took us to meet Hattie and Penny, their 4 year old twin granddaughters. We also saw their grandson Tripper and their daughter Jackie.

The next day, we were headed for the Dismal Swamp!
