We took a roundabout way to get to Legacy Village Marina in Fort Myers! It included a little canal in St. James City, a ride on a trailer on Pine Island through Cape Coral and into Fort Myers, a small canal along Rosen Park and onto the Caloosahatchee River. The marina is situated right near downtown Fort Myers and just down the street from the Edison Ford museum located in what was once their winter vacation home and a Publix grocery store!

While our boat was undergoing some routine maintenance, we spent some time with our friends from home, Greg and Ruthie Hawk, and their family, Vickie and Zane Walker. We learned how to play pickle ball and enjoyed catching fish in the Gasparilla Sound, west of Bokeelia on Pine Island. We caught four speckled sea trout that were keepers and enjoyed them for dinner at the Lazy Flamingo where they cooked cooked our fillets.

Once the boat service was finished, we took the boat to Legacy Marina where we enjoyed four nights connecting with other loopers. Our Pine Island friends came over for a boat ride up the Caloosahatchee River to Sweetwater Marina where we turned around and came back down river to Fort Myers for dinner at Ford's Garage. The day before we'd eaten lunch with Greg and Ruthie at Capone's. Both were delicious! Followed by ice cream!

On Sunday, we knew we were in for high winds and rainy weather. We didn't anticipate a tornado warning! We waited it out in the weight room, laundry, shower building with other boaters. As the tornado warning expired, we returned to the boat to find calmer seas and no damage. We hope to tour the Edison Ford museum this afternoon and try another Fort Myers restaurant this evening with other loopers. The nice thing about dining in Florida is that we can be outdoors!
