We arrived in Southport with time to explore the town, a short car ride away. We wandered the town looking for a good local eatery. We landed in Provisions for the day's special, a crabcake and boiled shrimp with a side of onion rings. It wasn't hard to find Flava's, the local creamery just down the street. Around the corner, we found Robert and Kay Creech sitting on their front porch with their VHF radio and binoculars, looking for Loopers passing by on the waterway. Robert shared his potato juice concoction with us and we shared some with him. We shared wine with Kay and she shared wine with us. We saw Captain Crusty from Magic passing by with his wife so we waved him up to join us. A while later, Kay drove us all back to the marina.

The next day, we did some boat washing and detailing before setting out for Southport and the arts and crafts festival in the park. We joined the crews of Hazy Lil' Thing and Compass Rose and piled into Robert Creech's car as he shuttled us all into town. We started at the visitor's center and the Fort Johnston Southport Museum. Then we headed to the arts and craft fair. Then we headed back downtown with a stop at Oliver for a salad and scallop po boy sandwich. We wandered through town before finding another ice cream stop and then heading back to the boat. We enjoyed docktales in Sojourn's cockpit. Then it was early to bed in preparation for an early morning.
