In the morning on the way to Marietta, we stopped at the McDonald's courtesy dock just down river from the Raccine Lock. A fun surprise along the route! Later in the day, we experienced our first storm on the boat right after we locked through the Belleville Lock around 1pm. After cruising though thunder and lightening, we stopped at Athens Boat Club, a fancier name than the actual place. After walking around and calling ahead to the Marietta Boat Club, and seeing no more rain on the radar, we decided to make the run to Marietta. We arrived an hour and a half later and we welcomed warmly! We enjoyed an evening on the back deck talking with members of the boat club. They even let us borrow a 100 foot rope that we would need to travel through the three Pennsylvania locks on the west side of Pittsburgh. We decided to stay an extra night in Marietta because of the wonderful people, showers, and quaint town that we wanted to explore. Marietta did not disappoint! The Busy Bee for breakfast, a brisk walk in the rain to the laundromat, a community transit ride back to the boat that Tony resourcefully secured for us, dinner at a Mexican restaurant in downtown Marietta, and another evening on the deck with members of the boat club!
