Thursday was our first day on Seneca Lake, our first of two Finger Lakes. Wine tasting in a castle and a swim in the lake on our way to Watkins Glen was a great way to start this leg of the journey!

Friday morning started with a walk to the laundromat! Then we headed to Watkins Glen State Park to hike the waterfall gorge. We happened to arrive just as a guide hike was starting. On the hike with the two naturalists, we learned some about the history, biology and geology of the park. It was a steamy morning in the gorge, so when we finished the hike we stopped into Maria's Bar and Grill to enjoy the cool air conditioning, a cold beverage, and a salad for lunch. On the way home, we got caught in the rain before getting back to the boat.

Susan and Steve, harbor hosts on Seneca Lake, came to meet us at the boat. They brought us a bottle of wine that we enjoyed as we talked on the boat. Then we headed out to dinner at a local BBQ restaurant. After dinner, we came back to the boat for little beers and the Looper toast!

On Saturday morning, we enjoyed breakfast at the Harbor Hotel restaurant and then headed to the Finger Lakes Wine Festival. It was a very well attended festival on a hot sunny day at the Watkins Glen International Speedway. Tony splurged on a trip around the track in a pace car as well as some wine to enjoy with friends when we return home.

Then it was one more trip to the laundromat and a look at wind and weather for our departure in the morning.
