As we cruised down the New River in Fort Lauderdale, we continued to pass by beautiful homes with equally beautiful boats, just as we'd seen headed up the ICW. With permission from the City of Fort Lauderdale, we pulled up along a kayak dock in the Las Olas district. This provided us a great spot to head out to a local restaurant with a happy hour and see some of the nightlife in the area, including a co-ed recreational kickball league. We kept the boat on the wall for the night, paying $50 for the dockage with no electric and the ability to use the showers and other amenities in the boaters' lounge. We left early the next morning to beat the traffic on the ICW.
