Karen woke up early to see the sunrise before leaving Orange Beach Marina. When we left Orange Beach Marina, Ray, a looper on the Ranger Tug C.A.L.M. took our picture as we left. We headed to Pensacola for the next leg of the journey. We decided to practice setting the anchor at Fort McRee. We chose this spot because we'd heard that we might get to see - and hear - the Blue Angels practicing as they are located very nearby. It was a beautiful ride to the anchorage past beautiful gulf-front homes, sandy beaches, and seafood restaurants. We saw a few dolphins in the distance and lots of water birds swooping down to say hello and hanging out in the sun. We arrived at the anchorage around 10:15am. We set our anchor, fixed ourselves some lunch, and chatted with loopers anchored next to us. Doug and Shari came over on their tender, Thistle Missile. Thistle is the name of their looper boat. We all sat outside in our cockpit and watched the Blue Angels fly overhead.
