It was a long day's journey on the Ohio River today. 119 miles from Louisville, Kentucky to Cannelton, Indiana. When it's a long day on the river, the Best Mate gets a turn running the boat! Along the way, we saw 3 eagles, several heron, and lots of monarch butterflies flittering around the river and our boat. We've met another boat traveling along the same journey as us over the next few days so we'll do what's called "buddy boat" with them. We'll travel the river together, staying together some but not all day. We'll end up at the same spot at the end of each day. They aren't doing the loop just yet, just cruising in their new-to-them houseboat. When we all arrived at the marina after traveling 10 hours and 1 lock today, we all hiked up a hill to see the largest Celtic cross in the world. It was up in the woods and it really is beautiful. We ended the evening with dinner for two on the river. Our boat had a great view and the spaghetti and meatballs were delish!
