Today was an exciting day for Long Recess and her crew! We turned onto the Cumberland River at 9:30, our first piece of the actual Loop and then we hit 500 miles in our journey at 10:03 and then we went through our biggest lock yet, at Barkely Lock and Dam at 12:45 dumping us into the Grand River! We arrived shortly thereafter at Green Turtle Bay for some rest and relaxation! We'll be here until Monday morning before we charge onward! Today did not disappoint! Monarchs and eagles sightings too...along with water fowl, limestone digging, barges, and of course our buddy boat!

While at Green Turtle Bay, we enjoyed a pork chop and sawdust pie at Patty's Settlement restaurant and a soft serve cone (or two) at Craig's Dairy Whip. Karen enjoyed some spa and fitness center services. We enjoyed walks, nice showers, and a spot to rest and get some boat maintenance done. We met lots of other loopers, including Diane and Henry Hassell who are just starting their platinum (2nd) loop. They are ready to help us learn how to anchor out as soon as we get up our nerve to try it.
